Making a Difference – Children, Parents and Schools Together in Special Education


Date: Saturday 14 November 2015

Time: 10.30am – 4pm

Venue: The Ashling Hotel, Parkgate Street, Dublin 8 (situated near Heuston Station for train, bus and LUAS links)

Registration on the day from 10.30m, with tea/coffee and information stands for parents

A National Parents Council Primary conference for parents who want to know more about meeting their child’s needs in special education

Speakers will include experts in the area of special education and occupational therapy:

  • Sé Goulding: Head of Operations,  National Council for Special Education – “The Role of the Special Needs Assistant (SNA)
  • Noelle Connolly: Head of Local Services,  National Council for Special Education – “The Role of the Special Education Needs Organiser (SENO)
  • Dorothy Armstrong: Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at NUIG, PhD Candidate researching Developmental Co-ordination Disorder (Dyspraxia) in adolescence.

Dorothy will be providing two sessions in the afternoon programme:

“Enabling your child to manage and learn from their behaviour’”

“Minding yourself well – The importance of self-care for parents of children with Special Needs”
